A young 18-year-old man bought an old, unused ship and turned it into a luxurious floating home

At 18, Billy Wilder, from Lancaster, UK, decided to transform an old, unused ship into a stunning floating home. His parents were delighted to see his work come to fruition!

Billy is a DIY enthusiast, always busy repairing or creating things. He even restored a Volkswagen van on his own. Recently, he bought a rusty boat and transformed it into an incredible living space, ready to welcome his family, in just two months!

He purchased the ship for £5,000 (around 400,000 rubles), a sum generously financed by his mother. The young man explains: “I loved renovating this boat. It was strange creating a home for my family. It took a lot of work, as everything had to be rebuilt.

Normally, this boat would have cost £12,000, but since it didn’t pass all the tests, we were able to buy it at a much lower price. Then, we spent an additional £2,800 to furnish it to our liking. Now, there’s room for everyone, a bathtub, glass doors leading to the deck, and even affordable Audi car seats.”

Billy describes this project as a floating country house, where the family can relax together in the summer.

Although the renovation required meticulous work, Billy wasn’t intimidated by the task. He was especially motivated by watching the old boat gradually transform into a dream home.

The walls were removed to create an open space. Billy used wooden beams and metal profiles to build the structure, which he gradually furnished. He hand-crafted the kitchen and dining room, preferring natural materials for the interior. He also installed glass doors leading to the deck from the living room.

One room was dedicated to his sister, decorated with care by her and their mother, with curtains and charming decorative elements. Billy turned the terrace into a true paradise with an outdoor seating area.

Today, the floating home is complete, and the family regularly enjoys it for water escapades. “We’ve already traveled hundreds of kilometers along canals and the coast with our new boat. We love this way of traveling and relaxing as a family.”
