Discover how my sister created an original item for the home using plastic bottle caps

Many of us have the habit of tossing plastic bottle caps, but in reality, they can be transformed into useful and decorative items for the home! My sister came up with a brilliant idea: she created a colorful storage basket, both practical and eco-friendly, which has successfully found its place in our home decor.

Here’s what you’ll need to create such a basket:

Plastic bottle caps, or combine two contrasting colors to create interesting patterns.
Cardboard – this will serve as the base for the basket.
Hot glue – to securely attach the caps.
A plastic basket – this will be the form on which you will glue the caps.
Steps to make the basket:
1.Prepare the base: Start by taking a plastic basket and trace its shape onto the cardboard. Then cut out the shape (circle or oval) – this will be the base of your basket.
2.Glue the caps: Begin gluing the caps onto the cardboard in a spiral pattern, starting from the center. Make sure to place them evenly and tightly together to create a harmonious design.
3Create the sides of the basket: Place the plastic basket at the center of the base and start gluing the caps along the sides. You can place them diagonally or experiment with other patterns. If you want a woven effect, you can also use caps of different sizes.
4.Finishing touches: Once the caps are glued, carefully remove the plastic basket that was used as the mold. To add a final touch, you can paint the basket or cover it with colored paper to personalize it further.

Why make this basket?

Eco-friendly: Less waste, more useful and creative items!
Easy to make: Even beginners can successfully complete this project.
Cost-effective: The bottle caps are often gathered for free, so there’s no need to spend money on materials.
Aesthetic: A colorful and original basket will bring color and style to your home.

Where to use this basket?

This basket is perfect for storing a variety of items: toys, books, office supplies, or even food. It’s a great way not only to organize your space but also to add a creative and colorful touch to your home.

Don’t forget to collect your plastic bottle caps — they can be transformed into unique and functional objects that will beautify your everyday life!
