Against all odds, a young woman turned a dated nightstand into a true masterpiece. Initially, her family didn’t want to keep the piece and encouraged her to get rid of it. But with determination and creativity, she transformed it into something she is now incredibly proud of. The results?
This interior design enthusiast managed to turn an old Soviet-era piece of furniture into a real gem. She believes the minimalist style and clean lines of the nightstand made it perfectly suited for a total makeover.
Armed with a scraper, she removed the damaged surface layers to reveal a stunning natural oak finish hidden beneath years of wear. This discovery reminded her of the noble materials used in some metro doors.
To modernize the piece, she added a unique touch: a rattan mesh on the sides, which blended perfectly with the side panels that were in excellent condition. The back panel was covered with chic wallpaper repurposed from a renovation project.
To complete the transformation, she applied a coat of varnish to give the wood a subtle shine and replaced the old handles with more practical and modern designs.
