Police Officers Will Always Touch Your Car During A Traffic Stop: Here’s Why

One of the most difficult jobs in the world is being a police officer. You never quite know what the day is going to hold and sometimes, you may be in the middle of the most peaceful task when the most stressful issue comes up.

One thing that police have to do on a routine basis is stop cars that are speeding or perhaps violate another law. It can be very stressful when you get pulled over by a police officer, and often it results in a ticket.

The last thing that any of us want to see is the flashing lights in the rearview mirror because it instantly causes stress. As the police officer gets out of the car and walks toward us, they may even do something that we miss because of the stress.

As they walk past the back of the car, a police officer will reach out and put their hand on the vehicle. They may do this on the taillight or perhaps on the side of the car as they walk past.

You may not catch it, but it’s an important thing to keep in mind. Why would they do this?

Quite simply, when they touch your vehicle or the taillight, they are leaving behind a fingerprint. If you pull away from the scene and leave, they know that when they find your car, they will be able to prove it was yours because their fingerprint is on it.

It may seem insignificant, but it has a purpose that should not be overlooked.
