Looking at the armchair, I realized it had a certain charm, but the upholstery needed a refresh. Our cats had probably left some marks, unable to resist scratching. So, we decided to renovate it from top to bottom.
We started by carefully dismantling it, removing the old fabric, which we used as a template for the next steps.
Next, we removed the old foam and straps, taking photos at each stage to ensure we could reassemble the chair correctly.
The wood seemed solid, except for one leg, which we carefully repaired and left to dry for 24 hours.
While the leg was drying, we replaced the seat straps with special furniture straps, using 16 meters of straps to ensure comfort and stability.
Then, we made a new seat with foam and batting, using the old fabric as a template but adding a bit more padding, which led me to add a few extra centimeters.
My mom chose a fabric with a geometric pattern, which made working on the armrests a bit more complex, but I managed to do it.
We then treated the wooden parts with special products and sanded them to restore their original shine.
For the final touch, we applied a tinted walnut oil to highlight the natural beauty of the beech wood.
Once the armchair was completely reassembled, we checked that all the pieces were properly fitted.
The result far exceeded my expectations!
I’m really pleased with the work done. What do you think?
