During their first visit to Aniela’s home, the couple was completely shocked by the poverty in which she lived. Her house resembled a dilapidated shack: crumbling walls, no modern amenities, floors made of raw concrete and dirt. The single window let very little light in, creating a dim atmosphere in the home.
Aniela lived off a small social welfare allowance, which provided her with food and basic necessities. The couple quickly realized that a simple visit with some provisions wouldn’t be enough. They decided to take action.
When the grandmother returned to her home, she couldn’t recognize it. The transformation was so stunning that she was overwhelmed with emotion and couldn’t hold back her tears of joy. For her, it felt like a miracle.
The Kopeć couple showed that kindness and unity can work wonders. Without the help of many volunteers, this story could have ended differently.
