MTG Makes AOC Melt Down In CHAOTIC House Hearing: ‘You Don’t Have Enough Intelligence’

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) took down Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in epic fashion on Thursday during a House hearing that saw both women slinging insults in the middle of witness testimony.

An evening hearing by the House Oversight Committee devolved into chaos as the two firebrands became locked in a back-and-forth that began with AOC demanding an apology after MTG mocked one of her colleagues.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), a freshman lawmaker from Texas, asked Greene, “Do you know what we’re here for?” The comment came in response to an open question by Greene asking Democrats on the committee whether they employ Loren Merchan, a Democratic consultant and daughter of Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan who is overseeing the criminal trial against former President Donald Trump. The committee was meeting to consider contempt of Congress charges against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Greene shot back: “I don’t think you know what you’re here for … I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” CNN reports, prompting AOC to come to Crockett’s defense.

“That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person,” the New York Democrat said, asking chair James Comer (R-KY) to strike Greene’s remarks from the record.

Greene said to Ocasio-Cortez: “Are your feelings hurt?”

Ocasio-Cortez responded, “Oh, girl. Baby girl. Don’t even play.”

“Baby girl? I don’t think so,” Greene retorted.

Shortly after, the committee took a brief recess where Ocasio-Cortez could be overheard telling colleagues Green’s “ego is bruised” and “she doesn’t want to say sorry to nobody for nothing. She is going to learn.”

The hearing restarted with Rep. Comer asking Greene if she would agree to strike her words. She said yes, but “I’m not apologizing.” That prompted AOC to make another motion to strike the remarks.

Greene shot back, “Why don’t you debate me?”

“I think it’s pretty self-evident,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Greene then said: “Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” prompting audible outrage in the room and a second request from AOC to strike the insult against her as well.

AOC made a veiled shot at the Georgia lawmaker at the time, saying on the House floor, “Don’t tell me that this is about condemnation of anti-semitic remarks when you have a member of the Republican caucus who talked about Jewish space lasers, and an entire amount of tropes, and also elevated her to some of the highest committee assignments in this body.”

Greene, who was also removed from committees when Rep. Nancy Pelosi served as Speaker, called the New York lawmaker out at the time for rebuffing multiple requests for debates.

“I have repeatedly asked you to debate me, but you have been a coward and can’t even respond. But you go on
@CNN and lie about me. When are you going to be an adult and actually debate me on policy instead of run your mouth like a teenage girl?” she wrote on X last year.
